Typically opens 24 to 48 hours before your flight departure and closes a few hours prior (depending on the airline). Check your airline’s specific window to ensure you don’t miss the opportunity.
You can check in via the airline's website or mobile app. You'll need your booking reference or ticket number and may also be asked for your passport details for international flights.
-
Online check-in may be unavailable for various reasons, such as immigration checks, specific airline policies, or certain travel restrictions.
1. Visa or Travel Document Verification
If you’re traveling internationally, the airline may need to verify your visa, passport, or other travel documents in person. This is particularly common for destinations with strict entry requirements or where certain visas must be checked and validated before boarding.
2. Security or Government Requirements
Some countries impose additional security protocols that require passengers to check in at the airport. For instance, flights to or from destinations with heightened security measures may mandate in-person verification of passenger details.
3. Special Service Requests
Passengers requiring special services, such as wheelchair assistance, traveling with unaccompanied minors, or carrying pets in the cabin, often need to check in at the counter. This ensures that their specific needs are properly accommodated.
4. Airline Capability Restrictions
Not all airlines have the same technological capabilities. Some smaller carriers or low-cost airlines may not offer online check-in for certain flights or routes, especially for regional or short-haul flights. They may require passengers to check in at the airport for logistical or operational reasons.
5. Multi/Shared Airline Operations
When a flight is part of a codeshare agreement, it means that although you’ve booked through one airline, the actual flight might be operated by a different airline. This can occasionally cause issues with online check-in because of Different System Protocols.

Name Accuracy: Ensure the traveler's name on tickets matches their passport or ID exactly. Airlines may not allow boarding if there's a mismatch.
Visa Requirements: Confirm if a visa is required for their destination. Check the type, duration, and application process well in advance.
Passport Validity: Ensure the passport has at least six months' validity beyond the travel date, as many countries require this.
Dietary Needs: Verify dietary restrictions or preferences (e.g., vegetarian, kosher, halal, gluten-free). Most airlines and travel providers require advance notice for special meals.

-
Online Check-In: Many airlines allow passengers to check in online starting 24 to 48 hours before their flight. To get your boarding pass, visit the airline’s website and log in to your booking using your booking reference or ticket number and your personal details.
Traditional Check-In: If you’re unable to check in online or via the app, you can still obtain your boarding pass at the airline's check-in counter at the airport. The airline staff will help you with the check-in process and print your boarding pass after verifying your travel documents.
-
Airline Procedures: Different airlines have different processing times for baggage handling. While some airlines are efficient in getting bags from the plane to the baggage claim area, others may take a little longer, especially during peak travel seasons or busy flights.
Collecting Bags at First Entry Point: If you are traveling internationally or have a connecting flight, you will generally need to collect your checked baggage at your first point of entry into a country, even if this is not your final destination. This is the case because you will need to clear immigration and customs at the first airport you land in, which requires you to have your luggage with you for inspection.
-
Direct Flights to Final Destination: If your flight is a direct international flight with no layovers, your luggage will typically be checked through to your final destination. This means you will not need to pick up your baggage at your first entry point. You can proceed directly to immigration and then onto baggage claim at your final destination airport.
Checked Baggage Tagged to Final Destination: When you check in, your airline will usually place a tag on your checked baggage with the final destination indicated. If there are no connecting flights, your baggage will be forwarded to your final airport without needing to be collected at an interim stop.
-
If you miss a connecting flight, contact your Travellist immediately, they are available 24/7 as you travel. They will provide guidance on rebooking or alternative options to get you to your group.

Travel insurance
-
Travel insurance offers crucial protection against unforeseen circumstances that can disrupt your travel plans or cause financial loss. From unexpected trip cancellations to medical emergencies abroad, having insurance ensures you are prepared for the unexpected. For instance, if you face sudden illness, lose your luggage, or encounter a natural disaster, your insurance can provide financial support and peace of mind. By safeguarding your investment in your journey, you can focus on enjoying your travels rather than worrying about potential setbacks.
-
The policies we recommend often include coverage for:
Trip cancellations or interruptions
Emergency medical expenses
Baggage loss, theft, or damage
Travel delays or missed connections
Emergency evacuation and repatriation
Adventure/Winter Sports
24/7 assistance services
Some policies also include additional features like adventure sports coverage or rental car protection. We carefully assess your needs to recommend the right level of coverage.
-
Selecting the best travel insurance depends on your destination, planned activities, and personal circumstances. For instance, adventurous travelers may need coverage for sports or activities like scuba diving, while families may prioritize trip cancellation and medical coverage. At The Travellist Co., we assess your itinerary, preferences, and risks to match you with the ideal policy. Our personalized recommendations ensure your insurance complements your trip perfectly.
-
Yes! We partner with reputable insurers worldwide, making it simple to add travel insurance to your booking. Our team will handle the details, ensuring you have the proper coverage for your destination.
-
If you encounter a covered issue during your trip, filing a claim is straightforward. Contact your insurer directly to start the process, or reach out to us for support. We can guide you in gathering the necessary documentation, such as receipts, medical reports, or police reports, to ensure your claim is processed smoothly. Our team is here to help clarify policy details and provide assistance every step of the way.
-
Purchasing travel insurance as soon as you book your trip is highly recommended. Many policies include benefits that apply immediately after purchase, such as coverage for trip cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness, injury, or natural disasters). By buying early, you maximize the range of protection available, including for events that may arise well before your departure.
Additionally, purchasing insurance early ensures you're covered for non-refundable costs like deposits for flights, accommodations, or tours. If you wait too long, you may miss the window for certain coverage types, such as "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR), which typically requires purchasing within a specific timeframe after booking your trip.
For travelers with complex itineraries or planned activities, securing a policy early allows time to review and modify coverage based on any changes or additional risks. Our team can help identify the best moment to purchase your policy and ensure it aligns with your travel plans.
-
Yes, most providers allow modifications to your policy if your travel plans change, such as adding new destinations or extending your trip. However, changes may not be permitted close to the departure date. If your itinerary shifts or new risks arise, we’ll work with your insurer to explore your options for updating your coverage.
